Since using the feeder, my scarf ‘n’ barfer, Beaker, has vastly improved! The next time was dinner time, and they looked at the feeder with food, confused as to what to do.
CAT SLOW FEEDER FULL
The first time I fed them was right after getting it, and it was after their breakfast, so they already had full bellies and it worked. Of course, there was a learning curve when I started using the slow feeder. Slowing down eating gives the cat more time to get full as they’re working for their food, helping fight obesity. Whether due to inactivity, boredom, or adapting to a human feeding schedule (free feeding or scheduled meal times, both of which do not exist in the wild), it causes health issues, and many owners are at a loss on what to do. It’s not the same as in the wild, but it’s definitely closer than just a plain bowl of food. Indoor cats are bored, so it’s important to stimulate them mentally and physically, forcing them to work for food.In addition to the stealing cat overeating, this is extremely problematic if you have cats on different diets. Fast eaters may go after other cats’ food.

Slow feeders are designed to slow down the eating process and hopefully fix this issue. Help scarf ‘n’ barfers or cats that eat too fast and throw up.There are a number of benefits to using slow feeders and puzzles. The new Slow Feeder Dish designed specifically for cats, by My Lovely Feline. The My Love Feline Slow Feeder Dish is a round, white ceramic bowl with waves on it, and the cat must use their paws or find creative mouth positions to get their food. I linked this to a PetSafe version on Amazon.) I’m not sure where I got it or who makes it, but there are similar types available. (I thought it was by Friskies, but it doesn’t have the branding anywhere. Fill it with treats and your cat bats it around to get the treats to come out. Buy a Roomba yesterday but don’t let it near your cat’s puke.Fill with treats and your cats bat around the egg, causing the treats to come out of the hole.Īn egg-shaped treat puzzle with a hole in it. Works okay with dry food, probably better with wet food. Wet food could be spread around and the cat could then lick it from the plate.)TL DR: Great quality. The dry food sits on top of the ridges so its difficult to truly slow down your cat’s feeding time and my cats won’t eat the pieces inside the ridges…go figure. My cat is just an idiot.(Note: I imagine this would work better with wet food. (The Roomba is *amazing* and has changed my life but when it detects cat puke it rolls around on it mercilessly, desperately trying to vacuum it up but grinding it into the carpet and coating its innards and wheels in the process, then once it’s satisfied, tracks it around the house.)I bought another “slow feeder?plastic bowl set before this one and it was junk (and my cat was still puking regularly.)I would love to say this one stopped the problem but, realistically, it decreased it by maybe 50%. The plate is heavy ceramic and the stand is wooden and strong.I feed my two cats dry food exclusively that I leave out, so it’s always available. One of my cats like to engorge herself, run around really fast, then puke undigested cat food-so I’m constantly racing the Roomba to get to it first.
